The Visionary
Dr. Mamad Bagheri has more than two decades of experience in Mohs surgery, general
dermatology, and aesthetic skin procedures. Dr. Bagheri spent his childhood in Philadelphia,
where his father was a graduate student at the Wharton School. He attended Medical school at
the University of North Dakota and completed his Internship at the Mayo Clinic. During those
years he developed a strong interest in skin diseases and applied for residency training in
the highly competitive specialty of dermatology. As a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor
Society and the author of several peer-reviewed publications as a medical student, he was
accepted to the dermatology residency program at New York Medical College, where he also
served as Chief Resident.
During residency, he became fascinated with Mohs Surgery, surgical reconstruction and
cutaneous oncology. He co-authored book chapters and peer-reviewed articles on skin cancer,
leading him to pursue a fellowship in Mohs Surgery at the prestigious Mohs Clinic within the
Department of Plastic Surgery at the University of Wisconsin—the institution where Dr
Fredrick Mohs pioneered the technique in 1936.
During his fellowship, he participated in thousands of surgical procedures at one of the
busiest Mohs clinics in the country and co-authored several articles regarding skin cancer
and precancerous lesions. After completing his fellowship in 2003, Dr Bagheri moved to
Southern California where he entered private practice.
Dr Bagheri is married and has a daughter. Outside of medicine, he enjoys a wide variety of
interests, ranging from screenwriting to playing poker. Growing up, he played soccer as an
attacking midfielder and now enjoys playing tennis with his wife, Catherine, a former
Division 1 tennis player at Cornell University.
